Using the cross as our standard to claim the world for Jesus Christ. First Lutheran Church of Carson, as members of the ELCA, believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Using our strength and the love of God, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus’ name. Taking on the needs and desires to see our neighborhoods and communities strengthen and esteemed in which the loving arms of Jesus can prevail.
Biblical and theological foundation
Members of the First Lutheran Church of Carson, ELCA are called and privileged to participate in God’s work in the world. God empowers us for the mission He has given each and every member through baptism. Gathering a community of believers, who have been justified by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8), we do not describe mission in terms of our own work but that God may be glorified and restoration to our community that can only be accomplished through Christ. First Lutheran Church of Carson seeks the guidance of the Spirit in our planning, while expecting surprising developments and unanticipated opportunities. Knowing and expecting God to always show up. Surprises our hearts and minds. We have the courage to explore the world as saints and sinners who are certain of God’s promises and of the confident hope that all God’s loving purposes will be fulfilled when our risen Lord Jesus Christ returns (1 John 3:2).
